BLAKE RUDIS: Visual Philosopher
Capturing The Elements 2
2006
Steel, Resin, Concrete
15' x 15" x 16"
In creating this piece I was interested in the elements of light, stability and motion. Not only interested in the elements themselves, but captivating the elements of light and motion in a stable structure. A structure that mimics the height of trees, dwarfs the human being, and represents a tower or obelisk. The polyester resin object atop the structure functions as a tool to capture the natural prism created by the light of the sun. In direct relation to this is the pendulum suspended at the bottom of the tower.

This piece was created for a juried garden show. It won the Grand Prize.
